Damarice Amao (historian of photography, conservation officer at the Cabinet de la photographie du Centre Pompidou and curator) and Clara Bouveresse (Historian of photography, lecturer and curator) will return, in mirror, on their respective careers and the role they play today, from their different positions at the university and at the museum, in writing the history of photography. Finally, they will discuss the place given to women in photography exhibitions.

The opportunity to discover the diversity of photographic techniques from an early age!
In view of the exhibition Étienne-Jules Marey, Founder of Science and the Arts at the Museum of the History of Medicine, this workshop invites to go back to the origins of cinema and animated image through the creation of a mini zootrope — an optical device from the 19th century that gives the illusion of movement. After a short presentation of the work and visual research of Étienne-Jules Marey, pioneer of chronophotography, participants will imagine and draw a sequence of images decomposing a gesture or movement.
By inserting these images into a rotating disc, everyone can then give life to their animation: a bouncing balloon, a walking figure, a flower that opens... This workshop highlights the magic of movement and the link between art, science and perception.
This workshop is open to children 8-12 years old, free, on reservation, subject to availability.

In view of the exhibitions of Sixtine de Thé Pellicules aveugles at the Institut National des Jeunes Aveugles, and Jardins parisiens at the Musée national Eugène-Delacroix as part of PhotoSaintGermain, this workshop offers a sensory experience where vision and touch complement each other, inviting to «see differently». From photographic prints of flowers, participants will be invited to explore the dialogue between image and matter. After a brief introduction around the projects Pellicules aveugles and Jardins parisiens, each one will choose a photograph and will come to underline the shapes, the contours or the reliefs by embroidery.
By adding threads, textures and stitches, the photographic surface is transformed: the image becomes not only visible, but also tactile.

As part of the exhibition "Etienne-Jules Marey: chronophotography, sciences and arts", the University Paris Cité offers you a public lecture: The memorable laboratories of Etienne-Jules Marey: lecture by Didier Sandre, member of the Comédie-Française.
From the old hall of the Comédie-Française, rue de l'Ancienne Comédie, to the Physiological Station of the Parc des Princes, Marey’s laboratories awakened the curiosity of his contemporaries. Nadar, Jules Ferry, Charles-Emile François-Franck, Georges Demeny and Marey himself give us an overview of these places of science which also belong to the zoo, the mechanical workshop and the museum.

En parallèle des 38 expositions du festival PhotoSaintGermain, un programme d’ateliers pour les enfants, gratuits et accessibles à tous sur réservation a été prévu en collaboration avec l'association Les Ateliers Artistiques et Créatifs de l'Image. L'occasion de découvrir la diversité des techniques photographiques dès le plus jeune âge !
Inspiré par les formes organiques et les teintes profondes évoquées dans Viridescent, afire, cet atelier propose de découvrir la technique ancienne du cyanotype, procédé photographique par contact qui révèle des images d’un bleu intense.
Les participants seront invités à dessiner ou découper des silhouettes inspirées du monde marin — algues, coraux, coquillages, ondulations — et à les combiner avec une sélection de formes proposées. En les disposant sur un papier sensibilisé à la lumière, chacun composera une image unique avant de l’exposer au soleil pour révéler sa trace en nuances de bleu.
Entre dessin, collage et expérimentation lumineuse, l’atelier explore la rencontre entre nature, chimie et poésie visuelle.
Cet atelier est ouvert aux enfants de 8 à 12 ans, gratuit, sur réservation, dans la limite des places disponibles.
