On the occasion of the release of Vivian Maier révélée, Enquête sur une femme libre, delpire & co presents a unique sound installation. The author of the book, Ann Marks, has drawn from the personal archives of the photographer – and through 8 excerpts from interviews conducted by Vivian Maier, she offers a sound portrait of the photographer.
Dating mostly from the 1970s, Vivian Maier’s conversations with children, employers or acquaintances, allow us to measure her impressive talent in conducting interviews, her vast knowledge, her formidable sense of humor and discover her clear voice and language. While these interviews were carried out at a time when Vivian was forced to change jobs several times, and where she suffered more and more from her accumulation problem, listening to her, she nevertheless seems in full possession of her means, enthusiastic and happy.
The topics cover a wide variety of topics: death, the 1930s crisis, Hollywood, job search, male idols, Nixon, the tape recorder, war.
Lasting from 40 seconds to 3’50 minutes, each recording is illustrated with a composition of images by Vivian Maier and explanatory texts on each theme.

In 2020, Delpire Éditeur becomes delpire & co, under the direction of Julien Frydman, former director of Magnum Photos and Paris Photo. Thus opens a new chapter, in continuity with the spirit and approach of Robert Delpire’s “showman of images.”
Located at 13, rue de l’Abbaye in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, it is at once a publishing house, bookstore, gallery, and a lively place for encounters and events, delpire & co wishes to initiate demanding photographic projects, singular photographic writings, encounters of text and image, curatorial research, the discovery of new talents as well as forgotten works, political points of view and sensitive expressions.
