As part of the new edition of PhotoSaintGermain, the gallery Olivier Waltman will present a conversation between works by Philippe Calandre and François Ronsiaux.
Philippe Calandre’s research revolves around deconstruction and the question of the power of the photographic image in contemporary society. Deconstructing the documentary image became for the artist a fundamental issue that pushes the limits of the framework and the narrative. This questioning lays the foundations for a statutory upheaval fostered by the advent of the digital age.
From the “Isola Nova” project instigated by Jean-Michel Wilmotte through the “In Perceptivo” series, Philippe Calandre has been working on industrial architecture as a theater of demonstration due to its duality with photomontage, through juxtaposition and organization of volumes assembled into a puzzle.
By his side will be presented François Ronsiaux’s body of work who is one of these protean artists by exercising his art on themes such as propaganda engineering, modern ideologies or environmental developments. Through the use of contemporary technologies and materials, François Ronsiaux creates installations, visual and sound projects bordering on balance and in allegories of reappropriation of the essential laws of nature.
Galerie Olivier Waltman
Since 2005, we have been promoting the work of artists from different regions of the world, both emerging and confirmed. Their artistic practices touch on painting, photography, sculpture, design as well as electronic arts. We are committed to developing for them a platform for demonstrating and visibility in our spaces in Paris and Miami as well as at several international contemporary art fairs. Meetings and dialogue are at the heart of our mission. An artist residency in Miami, set up in 2019, is part of this desire to encourage exchanges and support contemporary creation.
The gallery is a member of Comité Professionnel des Galeries d’Art (France) and the Miami Art Dealers Association (USA)
