For this new edition, the festival PhotoSaintGermain presents at the Galerie du Crous the photographic works of Sandrine Marc and Paul Grund as well as a selection of books and prints from the Xandre Rodríguez collection. Concentrating on a common interest in publishing and photobooks, the exhibition will be activated with the production of zines and multiples.
For Sandrine Marc, UNFOLD is an opportunity to develop her work around publishing. She presents Changes faster than the heart, self-published work printed on a photocopier. During the time of the exhibition, she uses the printers installed in the gallery to produce and activate new sequences of images from her collection ; photographs taken in Paris between 2018 and 2020: blind shop windows and ruderal plants.
Paul Grund presents BLEMISHES, a new set of black and white prints, from recent images taken during a stay in Los Angeles, and whose exhibition announces the sequence of a publication in progress. Lines and grids, continuity or cutting, Paul Grund's photographs simulate the pages of a book on display, a track for a series of zines printed and assembled during the exhibition.
Using material from his own collection, Xandre Rodríguez, in collaboration with Pierre Hourquet, shows WHAT WE DO IS SECRET, a journey around identity and masculinity in the Chicano culture and the Hardcore music movement.
Set against the backdrop of Los Angeles, the selection of books, original prints and facsimiles, highlights the parodoxies of the Latino community and explores the brutality of the Hardcore scene around the ambiguous figure of Darby Crash.
Dedicated to emerging artists, Galerie du Crous in Paris offers young artists the opportunity to be confronted to the critical and public eye by hosting twenty individual or group exhibitions each year.
