From October 13 to November 19, 2022, the La Forest Divonne gallery presents a new solo exhibition by Illés Sarkantyu, curated by Didier Quilain.
Photographer and filmmaker born in Budapest in 1977, Illés Sarkantyu's work is nourished by the issues of absence and presence, memory and heritage.
The precision, the mastery of light and technique, as well as the diversity of projects and writing characteristic of his work will be revealed through the presentation of several series of photos. From the oldest Mihaly (2011), Ombrées (2013-2014) and Hervé (2007-) to a selection of recent photographs from a project of reappropriation of objects found in the streets of Bordeaux, the city he lives in.
Founded in 1988 by Marie-Hélène de La Forest Divonne, Galerie Vieille du Temple became Galerie La Forest Divonne in 2015, when it moved to Rue des Beaux-Arts. It opened a second space, run by her son Jean de Malherbe, in Brussels in 2016. Two generations of gallery owners defend an independent line of international artists, painters, photographers, video artists and sculptors.
