delpire & co is delighted to host Polish photographer Rafał Milach, who will present his publication-based work centered on protest.
"The field of protest is vast. It encompasses spectacular acts of vandalism in public space as well as subtle forms of individual resistance; it stretches from the digital landscape to the concrete presence of crowds, banners, and the choreography of demonstrations. Each of these strategies has its own place and purpose. Each is experienced differently, but none is without meaning. Civil resistance is driven not only by a longing for self-determination and agency, but also by a certain despair - the kind born of failed dialogue and diplomacy. It is a space where the intimate and the personal confront structural oppression. Can a book become the meeting point of these two spheres? What reach might such an undertaking have? Could it serve as a last resort?"
