Our Kind of People
This first exhibition devoted to the american artist Bayeté Ross Smith will be held simultaneously at the Centre de la photographie de Mougins and the Eugène Delacroix Museum
The series explores the idea of multiple personas and alter egos that exist within the same person. However, in a variation of the ‘Our Kind of People’ series, the ‘Mirrors Face to Face’ series examines how the different components of one’s personality, the ego and superego, interact with one another. It is both fascinating to think about how the complexity of identity exists both internally and externally. The ‘Mirrors Face to Face’ series also raises questions about coping and mental health in a time in which people must perform different aspects of their personality, or even put on a false façade, in order to survive in modern society.
The Eugène Delacroix Museum
The Eugène-Delacroix National Museum is located in the apartment and studio where Eugène Delacroix lived and worked from 1857 until his death. From the painter's apartment one can visit the dining room, the salon and the bedroom, where the painter's works are presented. The visit continues in Eugène Delacroix's studio, overlooking a charming little garden. The artist himself built his studio, where he worked surrounded by thousands of sketches and drawings, as well as objects brought back from his journey to Morocco. The collections of the Musée national Eugène-Delacroix now brings together paintings, drawings, prints, as well as letters by Delacroix and his contemporaries, thus addressing the work of the painter and his creative process through various themes.
