Lahem’s artistic language is both raw and poetic. Fire, village, wandering spirits: these elements converge in darkness to form a ball of fire, abstracting daily life—birth, old age, sickness, and death—into a melancholy that transcends modernity, rooted in humanity and the earth. Here, Sibei is no longer the village belonging to Luo Fuping in the mountainous region of southern Jiangxi; it begins to manifest itself. The procession of deities and the tumultuous ancestor worship rites unfold under the artist's lens with a quiet violence. The village life, rustic and fragmented like a poem, waits, lingers, and watches endless deaths.
The exhibition will primarily feature Sibei and Reborn, Lahem's central works, where a conflict between modernity and anti-modernity unfolds.
